Holiday Hair, Makeup and Nail Ideas

Sure there’s nothing new under the sun about a red lip, but it looks so gorgeous on our varying shades of brown skin. Red can be both classic and stylish so why not give it a go to add some punch to your look?
We love: MAC Ruby Woo (cool undertones), Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté in #17 (warm undertones) and #18 (cool undertones), Stila Long Wearing Lip Color in Fiery (cool undertones), Black Radiance Perfect Tone Lip Color in #5013 (warm undertones).

2. Curls, Curls, Curls.

What’s not to love about a head full of curls? Whether you’re natural, relaxed, or wear weaves, add some ringlets to your look and spread the holiday cheer.
At the salon: ask your stylist to set your hair in smaller rollers with a setting lotion that gives hair hold but doesn’t make the curls “crunchy”. Your hair can last up to a week.
At home: try a roller set or if you’re in a rush use a heat protector along with a small to medium barrel curling iron and work in small sections to create curls around your head. When done spritz with hair spray and finger comb.
Sleep with a satin or silk scarf or pillowcase to help preserve your style. Also try pin curls (where you wrap sections of hair into little curls and secure with a bobby pin) to refresh the hair.

3. Up-Dos.

Up-dos are very simple and easy to create a home because the style these days is for your up-do to be a little “undone” unlike the super-styled updos of yesteryear.

Adorn your up-dos with festive headbands and hair clips like these:

4. Glittery Nails.

Take the party to your digits with a fun, glittery nail polish like China Glaze Ruby Pumps nail polish (shown above).
5. Shimmery Lips.

Normally fashioning your lips as if they were a disco ball would be considered a bit much, but it’s the holidays so bring on the shimmer! You can add a shimmery gloss like MAC Dazzleglass in Sugarrimmed on top of your lip color or just mix some of your favorite shimmer product with gloss to create your own.
6. Metallic, Shimmery, and Glittery Eyeshadow.

If there’s no other time to get away with being a grown woman wearing glitter, it’s the holidays! Add on the metallic, shimmery, and glittery shadow. To avoid overdoing it, add a matte eyeshadow shade in your look and be sure that your other makeup is relatively understated.
